Based on the results of the FAFSA, you may be offered funding
through the Federal Stafford Loan program. A maximum of $8500 per
year of these loans can be subsidized (which means they do not accrue
interest while the student attends school) if you qualify. Stafford
loans may also be unsubsidized (meaning the interest begins accruing
when the loan is borrowed). The maximum amount of Stafford loans
per year for graduate students is $20,500 including both subsidized
and unsubsidized.
After you have accepted your loans, first-time borrowers will be notified when
your loans are ready to be processed at Loans
By Web. This communication will include instructions for completing
the app online.
To view the Recommended Lenders, go to the Stafford
loan page. You may select any lender you choose, regardless of TCU’s
recommendations.
Loan Entrance Counseling - If you are a first-time borrower of
a Federal Stafford Loan at TCU, you may also need to complete Loan
Entrance Counseling. You will be prompted to complete this process
when you log on to guarantee your loan on Loans By Web, as part of
the loan application procedure. You can also link to Stafford Loan
Entrance Counseling
here.
You may need to consider applying for additional loan(s). Click
here to compare the different loan types available.
Remember, your requested loan amount is only for the
2009-2010 academic year, which goes from summer 2009 through spring
of 2010. (Loan
