Loan Options
Stafford Loans-Subsidized Stafford loans with an initial disbursment date prior to July 1, 2011 will have a 4.5% fixed interest rate, while Sub Stafford Loans first disbursed after July 1 will have a 3.4% rate; Unsubsidized Stafford Loans have a fixed interest rate of 6.8%. Repayment begins 6 months after the date the student is no longer enrolled at least 1/2 time, or graduates. Visit our Stafford Loan Information webpage for more info.
The College Access Loan (CAL)-TEXAS RESIDENTS ONLY-This program provides low interest loans to Texas residents who need assistance in paying for their education. The current fixed interest rate is 6%. For more information or to complete your application, please visit www.hhloans.com. Please note, CAL loans take at least 3 weeks to process. Education Loan Amounts
Texas Residents:
Stafford Loans: Independent students will receive $12,500 for fall 2011 - spring 2012, Dependent students will receive $7,500 for the same period; all students will receive $5729 for summer 2012
College Access Loans: Texas residents will be offered $19,732 for summer 2011 (must complete one application for summer loan), $20,000 for fall 2011-spring 2012 (must complete separate app for fall/spring), and approximately $12,908 for summer 2012
non-Texas Residents:
Stafford Loans: Independent students will receive $12,500 for summer 2011 - spring 2012 and $5729 for summer 2012; Dependent students will receive $7,500 for the same period;
Students needing further funding should explore Parent Loans (PLUS) if the student is Dependent, or private loans.
